Rosie O'Donnell suffered a heart attack last week and is now recovering at home.
The comedian/actress/talk show host blogged about her health adventure yesterday, giving credit to the Internet and the Bayer aspirin she had seen recommended on commercials for saving her life.
"Thank god/saved by a tv commercial/literally," O'Donnell wrote on her website.
The star's coronary artery was 99 percent blocked, leading doctors to insert a stent and leading Rosie to say she is "lucky to be here."
The incident took place on August 14, as O'Donnell explains she helped an "enormous woman" get out of her car in a Nyack, New York parking lot. Later that day, her arms grew sore and her skin clammy.
"maybe this is a heart attack," she wrote. "i googled womens heart attack symptoms/i had many of them/but really? – i thought – naaaa."
She took Bayer anyway and soon realized what was happening. O'Donnell is thankful she wasn't one of the hundreds of thousands of women who die each year from heart attacks because they fail to recognize the symptoms and fail to call 911.
"by some miracle i was not one of them," Rosie wrote, adding: "know the symptoms ladies/listen to the voice inside/the one we all so easily ignore/CALL 911/save urself."
Earlier this month, O'Donnell said she and fiancee Michelle Rounds were delaying their wedding because the latter is suffering from a tumor ailment known as "aggressive fibromatoses."
Here's to a full recovery for both ladies.
